Terms and conditions

Both publishers and advertisers enter into two agreements when they use the Backlink platform. The first is the platform agreement between you and Backlink B.V. The second is the placement agreement between the advertiser and the publisher.

The terms below cover the platform agreement. The placement agreement covers the specifics of each individual link or mention sold on the marketplace.

Platform: the website at trybacklink.com and the related dashboards. Publisher: a website owner offering placements through the marketplace. Advertiser: a brand or agency buying placements. Placement: a backlink, brand mention, or sponsored article delivered through the platform.

You can create an account if you represent a real business and you accept these terms. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or that we suspect of fraud.

Publishers set their own prices for each placement. Advertisers pay the publisher price plus a flat platform fee. We do not mark up publisher prices behind the scenes. Prices in the marketplace are excluding VAT unless stated otherwise.

Once an advertiser orders a placement, the publisher receives a brief through the platform. The publisher reviews the brief and either accepts, requests changes, or rejects it within the stated turnaround time. After acceptance, the publisher delivers the live URL through the dashboard.

Delivery times depend on the publisher and the brief. Typical placements go live within 5 to 10 working days.

Publishers control the editorial style of their own site. Advertisers provide a brief, but publishers may adjust wording to fit their voice. Placements must follow Dutch and EU advertising law, including clear disclosure where required.

We do not allow placements for content that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, or violates third-party rights.

Advertisers pay through the platform. Funds for the publisher are held until the placement is delivered and verified. Once verified, funds are released to the publisher according to the payout schedule in their account.

Refunds are available if the publisher fails to deliver, or if the placement is removed within 12 months due to a fault on the publisher side.

We monitor every placed link monthly. If a placement goes offline within 12 months due to a publisher issue, the advertiser receives a free replacement on a site of equal or better quality. The guarantee does not apply when an advertiser asks the publisher to remove a link, or when the original target page is removed by the advertiser.

Platform accounts can be closed at any time. Placements already live stay live. Orders that have not yet been accepted by a publisher can be cancelled for a full refund.

Backlink B.V. acts as the marketplace between publishers and advertisers. We screen publishers and run quality checks, but we are not the publisher of the content placed under a placement agreement. Each placement agreement is between the advertiser and the publisher.

Our liability is limited to the amount paid to Backlink B.V. by the relevant party in the six months before the claim, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.

Personal data is processed in line with our privacy policy. We only collect data we need to run the service.

We can update these terms when the service changes. We will email registered users at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you keep using the platform after that date, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute is brought before the competent court in Rotterdam.
